The Historic District

Median price: $275,000–$450,000 Avg days on market: 38 From downtown: 0–5 min walk

The Historic District is the part of Silver City you probably pictured before you’d ever been here: pressed-tin storefronts on Bullard Street, brick sidewalks, the Buckhorn at the end of the block, and houses from the 1880s through the 1920s with the bones to prove it. It’s also the part of town where I’ve spent the most time on boards and committees, so when I tell you something about a building here, I’m usually telling you something I learned in a meeting.

What the housing stock is like

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Adobe, brick, Victorian frame, and bungalow construction from the 1880s through 1920s. Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. What to look for: original wood floors, plaster walls, and portal details. What to watch out for: deferred roof maintenance, older plumbing, and knob-and-tube wiring in pre-1930 homes.

What it’s near

Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation. Walking distance to Bullard Street restaurants, the Silver City Museum, Gough Park, and the Saturday farmers’ market. Most errands on foot or a short drive.

What it costs

As of Q1 2026, median sale prices in the Historic District range roughly $275,000–$450,000 depending on size, condition, and lot. See the market report for current data.

Who tends to buy here

Downtown-oriented buyers, second-home owners, and buyers interested in short-term rental conversions. Note: STR regulations in Silver City change — verify current rules before purchasing with that intent.

What I’d tell you to look at first

Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum. Broadway Street for walkability and lot size. Cooper Street for the best surviving Victorian fabric. Spring Street for value relative to the core blocks.
